Heat Pumps Are A Great Choice for Pensacola

Why Heat Pumps Are A Great Choice for Pensacola Homes & Businesses

The #1 Choice for Pensacola Homes & Businesses

As fall weather draws near, we need to start thinking about an efficient way to keep our homes and businesses warm for the cooler weather, even in Pensacola! Though Florida is known for its mild temperatures year-round, we still experience a few cold snaps, and if your home isn’t prepared, you’re going to regret it! While furnaces are the traditional way to heat a home in more northern states, heat pumps are the better, more efficient choice for homes and businesses along the gulf coast.

What Are Heat Pumps?

Heat pumps are comfort systems that work as a solution for heating AND cooling your home. They’re extremely energy-efficient and are better suited for mild climates. These systems work by moving heat from one place to another. For example, to heat your home, liquid refrigerant moves through the outdoor evaporator coil, absorbing heat from the outside air. The refrigerant is compressed into a gas, and moves into the inside heat exchanger coil where it releases the produced heat then converts back into a liquid. Then, the heat released is distributed through the home by an air handler.

Benefits In Our Climate

This process works best in areas where the temperature is always above freezing, like Pensacola, Cantonment, Molino, Pace, Milton & Perdido

Because heat pumps do not actually generate heat, but convert cool air to warm air, they are more efficient, especially in mild climates. An air-source pump can generate up to three times as much heat energy as the amount of electricity it takes to operate the unit. These high-efficiency systems are also effective at dehumidifying Florida homes, making your house more comfortable year-round.

Efficiency Ratings

Heat pumps are rated with a heating seasonal performance factor, or HSPF, with the highest ratings falling between 8 and 10. Shannon’s Heating & Cooling specializes in high-efficiency, high SEER HVAC equipment. We always recommend what will work best for your home, your family, and your budget.
